Once upon a time there were faeries and faerie tales.
Professor Quinn Novak not only teaches a literature class on the subject, he
also does field research to find links between fable and reality. Told in
true faerie tale style, the story of Roberta is the accounting of how one
woman lived the part in several well known tales--Cinderella, Sleeping
Beauty, etc.
But this is not a sweet story, and not recommended for
male-type readers--guys, this might give you nightmares! Roberta and the
witch who raised her are very rough on the men they meet. But this is good
bashing humor for female readers who have been lied to by men and would like
some revenge at least in the fictional sense.
Though the editing is not perfect, ROBERTA: THE FAERIE
TALES is worth reading to the very end, which has a grand finish (or horrid,
depending on your perspective!). A nice career start from a new author Down
Under.
