DARKNESS: The Chronicles of High Gondylar Book
Two

e-book 250 pages
ISBN# 1-55404-259-3
This is a continuing story--see A LEAF IN THE WIND.
High Gondylar is "Consigned to darkness" because the hereditary Duchess and her Duke have been missing for nearly twenty years. The greedy lords do nothing but squabble while their enemy across the border makes plans to invade and conquer. Bladesman Kestryl believes he is doing is country a favor by assassinating the current useless Duke, but his goddess punishes him for it. A new hereditary Duke steps into power, but this Tanrif "is not his father" even though he pretends to be. Kestryl is beside himself. He hates the new Duke because the youth raped his mother, a woman Kestryl has come to love, but this Tanrif is just what High Gondylar needs as the threat of war becomes reality. Kestryl must put his feelings aside for the duration while aiding his country against invasion. It is not an easy time for either man as the plot wanders again into unexpected territory.
A good read. I eagerly await the conclusion.
