Apparently there are more books in this storyline, but grocery stores aren t always noted for carrying what came before . And I was hungry--for a little excitement in my read. This satisfied nicely.

It seems there s an entire underworld of vampiric cultures originating from the Greek pantheon still in existence--or so goes the story. Some of these vampiric people are nice, and some are very nasty.

News reporter Susan Michaels is oblivious to this underworld until it crashes in her door and threatens her life, then she s on the run with a very sexy man with fangs who can change into a kitty at will [a rather large, wild kitty, but that s beside the point]. Ravyn Kontis is a Dark Hunter, one of those vampiric types who does not prey on human souls. He s also a shapeshifting Were Hunter, and that makes him even more magical. The nasty Daimons have infiltrated the Seattle police department with murder on their mind. The Daimons want to clean all the Hunters out of Seattle permanently. It s civil war in the underworld and humans are trapped in the middle.

Mmm, this is a hot, sexy read with lots of action and more world-building than I could keep up with. I m going to have to look for more of these Dark Hunter Novels next time I m at the grocery store.

I enjoyed the character arcs in Tropic of Creation, most especially Eli's.  Starting with a slandered record, he must win the loyalty of those who follow him.  The general's granddaughter Sascha Olander is the woman pictured on the cover.  She is a survivor and a biologist whose altruistic bravery may just save her people.  Tropic of Creation is well written science fiction of the sociological order with a weird biology to spice your read.
