This is for readers seeking a high quality read.  The editing is excellent.  DAUGHTER OF EXILE has a literary flavor that focuses primarily on a fantasy world of magic gone wrong.   Lady Angarred is the daughter of exiled Lord Challo Hashan, now dead, who travels to court to beg for justice (and to climb the social ladder).  She stumbles onto a plot to overthrow the king—several plots, actually.  Circumstances in this court are complicated by a mysterious magic that steals people’s souls and manipulates them to a greater end.  But what end?  Who is pulling the strings, and why?  Angarred solves this puzzle with the help of her sorcerer friend Mathewar who has a terrible personal problem that connects to the root of everything going wrong.  They need to hurry, for friends are turning against friends without knowing what they are doing.

DAUGHTER OF EXILE does have descent characterization though this reader did not find it exceptional.  The focus of this story is on the world-building and plot, which are done well.  There is a little action, but not enough to satisfy action-junkies.  I believe the story is to be continued in another volume.
