Do you get tired of reading the same old thing all the time? Ready for something different? Really unusual? Ahhh, The Real Story grabbed me and refused to have itself removed from my hands!
As you start reading this book, you are a fly on the wall (figuratively, not literally) of Mallory's Bar, a favorite haunt of "disreputable asteroid pilots of Delta Sector." You watch the goings on with experienced eyes that know who that guy is and what--supposedly--he has done; and who that other guy is, too ... supposedly. They're both mean bastards, that's for sure. But this situation is too bizarre even for Mallory's. Like what, for instance, is the beauty Morn of the wealthy Hyland oreliner family doing with the ugly murdering pirate Angus Thermopyle? And what is wrong with her? There's something wrong with her. Speculations run wild as people on station wonder what the swashbuckler Nick Soccorso has been doing out in space, what happened that brought his ship in damaged, and yet enabled him to get Morn away from Angus? --How romantic--they're all saying.
Not really.
You have to read The Real Story to find out what really happened. But prepare yourself: unlike most of the books you're used to, you aren't going to walk in the good guy's shoes this time. Oh no. This time you're going to be Angus Thermopyle and no matter now hard you try to hate this guy you have to like him (or is it the other way around?).
I got to the end of this story only to discover that it's the first in a series (The Gap Cycle). Where's the car keys? I've go to get to a bookstore!
