Cherryh weaves choice words into a milieu so deliciously real, that once you're hooked on her style you're addicted to her books. Cherryh rewards her readers for their patience--handsomely. And reader ID with her main characters? If you've ever been alone and scared, she's got you!
Tripoint is somewhere in Alliance space, out from Pell Station; an
off-the-record unmanned cargo dump in a "triple un-stable mass," lost in the
vastness of space.
The book starts off slow, at Viking Station, but builds to breakneck pace the closer it gets to Tripoint. Merchanter Marie Hawkins is the moving force of this story but the focus is her son: Thomas Bowe Hawkins, 23 year-old unloved bastard of a raped mother who harbors an obsession for revenge. When that opportunity presents itself, Marie moves too fast and Tom becomes the unwitting pawn in a deadly game full of dark surprises. Now a prisoner on his angry father's ship, Tom must use his wits against malicious ship's crew and creepy forces sifting out of the woodwork...to get him.
