See review for DREAMS OF DARKNESS to see how this story starts.

In SHADOW OF THE SCORPION, Darak and Perian set out on their quest to save their world from the evil god that is awakening in the east. The Lord of the Everdark knows they are coming and has sent his Hounds after them. Astophar the good god helps as much as he can, though he’s under orders from his peers not to involve himself at all. He does manage to get Darak and Perian to the Temple of Light where Darak learns to hone his powers of magic. The lovers’ relationship continues to be a troubled one as Perian has difficulty trusting Darak [who does give reason not to be trusted, from her point of view]. This problem grows worse after Perian is kidnapped by the forces of evil and she fears she must concoct her own escape before giving birth to a son that could empower the Lord of the Everdark [who wants to possess the magical child when it is born]. Darak rushes to her aid, but the forces against him are greater than he can bear.

Mmm, this is a yummy tale, well crafted, and I can’t wait for the conclusion. Write faster, Liz!
